Deoria Tal Chopta Trek is a rare trek that you can do throughout the year. It offers different shades of colour in different seasons. In the winter season, you will find the whole trek full of snow. Whereas during the spring, the red and pink colour rhododendron flower covers the trail. In summer, the forest and meadows are lush green. And in the autumn season, the trek bloom in yellow colour. Deoria Tal Chopta Chandrashila Trek is famou for its magnificent Deoria Tal and scenic Chopta. The lake is located at an altitude of 7998.6 ft in the Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary. And offers you a stunning view of the might Chaukmba Peak, which you can spot in the backdrop of the lake. During the clear morning, you can also see the reflection of Chaukmba Peak in the Deoria Tal Lake.
Your thrilling journey will start from the holy town of Rishikesh. You, along with other trekkers, gather at Tapovan around 7 am. Here, our team members will meet you and complete all formalities. After that, you will board the vehicle and depart for Sari Village. The journey will pass through the famous Devprayag. Here, the two mighty rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, meet to form the holy Ganga. In the local language, this confluence of rivers is called Sangam. It’s a treat to witness the confluence of two rivers at Devprayag. Absorb yourself in the magical surroundings of Sangam and take blessings of the holy Ganga before your trek. Sangam At Devprayag From Devprayag, you continue your journey traversing through the beautiful mountains of Gharwal. This adventurous journey will end at the small Sari Village in the evening.At Sari Village, our team members will meet you and guide you further. After settling in the hotel, explore the surrounding Sari village. It’s host to some traditional gharwali houses and many well-laid paddy fields. Meanwhile, you will also meet villagers with happy faces, always ready to welcome you. As it gets dark, return to the hotel for a briefing session by your Trek Leader.
Your day 2 will start with a beautiful sunrise and delicious breakfast. After breakfast, you will start the trek towards Deoria Tal. The trail from Sari Village to Deoria Tal is easy to climb. And it takes 3 hours to complete it. From Sari market, you start trekking on a well-laid stone trail. As you continue, you can see the scenic Sari Village below. And Chandrashila Peak on the top of the mountain in front of you. After some time, you will also come across an ancient temple. Visit the temple premises and take the blessings of God. The climb from here will slowly get steeper and continue till Deoria Tal. Temple On The Way To Deoria Tal On the way, you enter the Oak and Rhododendron forest sections. Here you come across a variety of flora and fauna, especially Himalayan birds. Watching these colourful birds is a treat. You will reach the Deoaria Tal camp as you walk towards the end of the trail. At Deoria Tal, once you settle in the camps, you will be served delicious lunch. Then post-lunch, you have a whole evening to explore Deoria Tal and its surrounding.View Of Chaukhamba Peak From Deoria Tal As you walk close to the lake, you will be stunned by the view of the Himalayan peak in the backdrop of Deoria Tal.During winter, the lake is frozen and surrounded by 2-3 feet of snow. It looks like a wonderland. Being at such a scenic spot impacts you from inside. You feel more energetic, happy and peaceful.View Of Deoria Tal Lake During Winter Deoria Tal is also a great place for Bird lovers. You will see many birds species flying and humming around you. After exploration, you return to camps for dinner under the sky full of stars.
On this day, you start the trek early as it will be a long day. From Deoria Tal campsite, you move towards the lake and pass it from the left side. Then you reach a watchtower and enter the forest.The forest from here is full of Rhododendron and maple trees. During spring, you see lovely red and pink colour flower all around on the rhododendron trees. On crossing the forest, you will reach a small clearing. From here, you can clearly see the Kedar Dome and Chaukhamba Peak on your left side.Continue to walk on this clearing section, and after that, you reach a ridge. It’s the spot with a valley view on both sides with Chandrashila Peak in front of you. You pass this ridge and start descending to enter a dense forest again. The forest provides you with lot’s of shade from the day sun. And you will spot many species of Himalayan birds.
Once you pass the forest section, you start ascending and reach a point with three divergent. The left diversion will take you towards Sari Village, and the right path will take you towards Ukhimath. But you will take the trail in front, which will take you to Rohini Bugyal.
You will move ahead towards Rohini Bugyal. Rohini Bugyal is a lush green meadow with a scenic view of Kedardome and Kala Parvat Peak. You spend some time at this spot, enjoying the Himalayan views around. After that, you continue on the ridge and cross Bhrujgali.After that, you will descend into the forest and reach a small river crossing. You cross the river through a small bridge and start climbing.This climb will take you to a small meadow. On this meadow, you will find many shepherd huts, which they use during summer. You continue your trek from here and enter a dense forest. This forest is the last section of your thrilling adventure. After crossing the forest section, you will reach the Baniyakund campsite.
You start the day early to reach Chandrashila Peak for a sunrise view. From Chopta, you climb on the well-laid stone path. The path at the starting is steep with many bends. As you continue climbing these bends, you can see the snow-capped Himalayan peaks in front and Chopta Valley below. After crossing the bends in 3 hours, you reach the Tungnath temple. It’s the world highest Shiva temple. During winters, expect heavy snow on the temple premises. That is the reason you find the temple gates closed in winter. Post visiting the temple, continue to climb towards the Chandrashila Peak. The peak is 1.5 km above the temple, and it takes an hour to reach it. During winter, this whole trail is covered under the snow. And trekking on this section on snow is a thrilling experience. On reaching the Chandrashila Peak, you come across a small Shiva temple. And have a 360-degree view of the mighty Himalayas. Some of them are Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nandaghunti, Kamet, Dunagiri, Chaukhamba, Kedar dome, Thalaysagar, Gangotri ranges, Jahanukut and more. Experience and absorb the beautiful view for some time. And then head back to Chopta via the same route. After reaching Chopta, you move to Sari Village for an overnight stay.
You will reach Rishikesh by 5 pm, so you can book your further travel after 6 pm.
